🎬 PART 2: «The Daughter He Never Knew Had Been Born» - vidos

“Mister… you dropped this.”

The man stopped.

A little girl stood behind him holding the Polaroid that had fallen from his coat.

He walked back slowly.

Then she looked at the photograph.

“Why do you have a picture of my mommy?”

His face went still.

“What did you say?”

The girl pointed at the smiling woman in the photo.

“That’s my mom.”

His breathing changed.

“No.”

He took the photograph carefully.

“That’s my wife.”

The girl stared at him.

He swallowed hard.

“She died seven years ago.”

The girl immediately shook her head.

“No… my mom is alive.”

The street suddenly felt silent.

The man looked at her more carefully.

Her brown eyes.

The shape of her smile.

Something about her face made his hands start trembling.

“What’s your mother’s name?”

“Anna.”

He nearly dropped the photograph.

That was his wife’s name.

The girl hugged her backpack against herself.

“She told me you’d come back someday.”

His eyes filled.

“Come back?”

She nodded.

“She said you didn’t leave us because you wanted to.”

The man froze.

“Us?”

The little girl looked confused.

Then quietly said,

“You’re my dad… aren’t you?”

The man stared at her.

“How old are you?”

“Seven.”

His face collapsed.

Anna had supposedly died seven years earlier.

Only weeks before the doctors told him the pregnancy had ended with her.

He crouched in front of the girl.

“What’s your name?”

“Lucy.”

He closed his eyes.

That was the name Anna had chosen for their baby.

“Where is your mother?”

Lucy pointed toward an apartment above the street.

“She’s sick today.”

He stood so quickly he almost stumbled.

Lucy grabbed his coat.

“Wait.”

She looked frightened now.

“Mom said if you ever came back, I had to ask you something first.”

“What?”

“Did your brother tell you she was dead?”

He stopped.

His younger brother had identified Anna’s body.

Handled the funeral.

Convinced him not to see her because the accident had been too severe.

“Yes.”

Lucy looked down.

“Mom said he would.”

Minutes later, the apartment door opened.

A woman stood inside.

Older.

Thinner.

But unmistakable.

Anna.

The man couldn’t move.

Neither could she.

Then her hand covered her mouth.

“Michael…”

His eyes filled instantly.

“I buried you.”

Anna began crying.

“No.”

Her voice cracked.

“You buried a closed coffin.”

Lucy stood between them.

Michael looked at Anna.

“Why?”

She handed him a folder she had kept hidden for seven years.

Inside were bank records, forged medical documents, and letters he had supposedly written telling Anna never to contact him again.

Michael stared at the signature.

It looked exactly like his.

But it wasn’t.

“My brother?”

Anna nodded.

“Your father’s company was supposed to pass to you when Lucy was born.”

Michael slowly understood.

“But if I believed my wife and child were dead…”

Anna finished the sentence.

“You would leave the country.”

“And my brother would control everything.”

Lucy looked between them.

“Does this mean Dad didn’t forget us?”

Anna knelt beside her daughter.

“No, sweetheart.”

Michael’s composure finally broke.

He dropped to his knees in front of Lucy.

“I didn’t even know you were here.”

Lucy studied him for a moment.

Then she reached into her backpack and pulled out another Polaroid.

Anna holding newborn Lucy.

An empty chair beside the hospital bed.

On it was a handwritten card:

Reserved for Dad.

Michael pressed the photograph against his chest and cried.

Lucy slowly wrapped her arms around him.

And after seven years of waiting for a father who thought she had never lived, she whispered,

“You came back just like Mom said you would.”
