Mason’s assault on Lucien had been captured from two angles.
His attorney argued panic and family provocation.
The video still showed Mason grabbing Lucien and swinging first.
He accepted a negotiated resolution and lost every Moretti-affiliated security or management role.
No quiet reinstatement.
No transfer to an uncle’s company.
Rebecca faced the more serious family consequence.

He had organized the provocation and directed Rebecca to continue.
Prosecutors pursued the conduct the evidence supported rather than inventing a grand conspiracy charge simply because his name was Moretti.
His age and health mattered.
So did the planning.
He received a negotiated outcome involving supervision, treatment, and permanent restrictions around Ava.
Lucien’s actions were reviewed too.
Mason’s punch clearly preceded Lucien’s counterpunch.
Rebecca had reached for Ava immediately before Lucien pulled her hand away.
The open-handed slap received separate scrutiny.
Lucien did not insist the family call every act self-defense simply because he had been furious for a good reason.
His lawyers handled the matter openly.
He accepted the civil and behavioral consequences attached to the part investigators determined went beyond what was necessary to protect Ava.
Several capos were disgusted.
“You apologized for hitting someone who threw your child down?”
Lucien looked at them.
“I took responsibility for what I did.”
“She deserved worse.”
“That isn’t the standard.”
“To us it is.”
Lucien shook his head.
“Not anymore.”
That answer lost him some loyalty.
He accepted that too.
Authority based on people believing he was always justified had become another tradition he no longer wanted.
The Moretti council continued to exist.
But differently.
It became a family association.
Weddings.
Funerals.
History.
Scholarships.
No operational command.
No corporate power.
No children introduced as future bosses.
The chair Charles had treated like a sacred object was placed in storage.
Nobody replaced it.
