The entire range fell silent.
Thousands of spectators waited.
Cameras focused on Mason.
Then on Eleanor.
Mason finally spoke.
"That watch was awarded by the National Long Range Federation."
A murmur swept through the crowd.
"It was given to the shooter who set the absolute record."
Dylan frowned.
The name felt impossible.
The record still stood.
Nobody had broken it.
Nobody had come close.
"Say the name," Dylan challenged.
Mason looked at Eleanor one last time.
Then turned to the crowd.
"Eleanor Brooks."
The arena exploded.
Gasps.
Disbelief.
Shock.
The woman they mocked.
The woman they laughed at.
The woman sitting alone at the last lane.
Was the greatest shooter their sport had ever produced.
