CHAPTER 1: THE MILLIONAIRE IN THE HOODIE

Three weeks after selling his software company for eighty-two million dollars, Alex Carter walked into one of the most exclusive luxury car dealerships in the country.

No designer suit.

No expensive watch.

No entourage.

Just a worn hoodie, tired eyes, and the exhaustion of someone who hadn't slept properly in days.

For years, Alex had dreamed about this moment.

Not because he wanted to show off.

Because he wanted to honor a promise.

When he was fourteen, his father had pointed at a luxury sports car outside a repair shop and said:

"One day, buy whatever makes you happy. Not because you need it. Because you earned it."

His father never lived to see that day.

Now Alex stood inside the showroom, admiring the cars he had once only seen in magazines.

A limited-edition performance coupe immediately caught his attention.

As he studied the vehicle, Senior Sales Consultant Brandon Hayes noticed him.

And instantly judged him.

The hoodie.

The worn sneakers.

The messy appearance.

In Brandon's mind, Alex wasn't a customer.

He was a time-waster.

A dreamer.

Someone who didn't belong inside a luxury dealership.

Brandon approached with open contempt.

“You shouldn’t be touching that.”

Alex looked up, confused.

“I was just looking.”

“What are you buying?” Brandon asked sarcastically.

“I haven’t decided yet.”

The answer only made Brandon more aggressive.

“You know that car costs over three hundred thousand dollars?”

Alex nodded calmly.

“I know.”

Brandon laughed.

To him, Alex was pretending.

Playing millionaire for an afternoon.

What Brandon didn't realize was that the tired man standing in front of him was wealthier than many of the dealership's biggest clients combined.

And his arrogance was about to cost him everything.
