CHAPTER 2: THE CALL THAT STARTED A CORPORATE WAR

Her sister folded her arms confidently.

"You should have listened."

Natalie slowly lifted her eyes.

Something in her expression caused the confidence in the room to falter.

Not anger.

Not grief.

Certainty.

She reached down and picked up the phone resting on the marble table.

Her father laughed.

"Calling your lawyers?"

Natalie calmly unlocked the screen.

Then looked directly at him.

"Dad..."

A brief pause.

"...did you forget?"

The smile vanished from his face.

Natalie placed the phone against her ear.

The call connected immediately.

"Evelyn speaking."

Natalie's voice remained calm.

Cold.

Precise.

"Activate the emergency board protocol."

Silence.

Then a single reply.

"Understood."

The line disconnected.

Nothing else.

No explanation.

No discussion.

No warning.

But the effect was immediate.

Her sister's face drained of color.

Her mother's eyes widened.

And her father suddenly looked toward the windows as though trying to remember something important.

Because he knew exactly what the Emergency Board Protocol was.

It had been created decades earlier by the company's founders.

A safeguard reserved for extraordinary circumstances.

A mechanism capable of freezing executive authority and triggering an immediate internal review.

Only a handful of individuals could activate it.

Natalie was one of them.

Her mother stepped forward nervously.

"Natalie... let's talk about this."

For the first time all evening, uncertainty entered her voice.

Too late.

The chairman's confidence continued to crack.

Because another realization was beginning to surface.

The family owned shares.

The family carried the corporate name.

But Natalie controlled the trust structure established by the founder himself.

A trust that held decisive voting authority.

May you like

A trust everyone had ignored because they never imagined she would use it.

Until now.
