CHAPTER 3 The Secret Hidden for Five Years

Marco carefully led Sofia out of the small room while trying to understand the impossible truth unfolding before him. The bracelet, the child's age, and her frightened behavior refused to leave his mind.
When Daniela suddenly appeared at the end of the hallway, her face instantly lost all color.
She froze the moment she saw Sofia standing beside Marco.
Neither of them spoke.
Marco quietly lifted the little girl's wrist.
"Where did she get this bracelet?"
Daniela's eyes filled with tears.
Instead of answering, she slowly covered her face.
Everything she had hidden for five years began collapsing in silence.
She confessed that Sofia had never died.
Her wealthy parents had convinced her that Marco wasn't financially successful enough to raise a child. Believing they were protecting their family's reputation, Rodrigo and Elena secretly arranged for Sofia to be hidden inside the estate under the care of trusted household staff while Daniela was told the baby had been lost.
For years she had lived believing her daughter was gone.
Only recently had she discovered the horrifying truth, but fear and manipulation had kept her silent while she searched for a way to tell Marco.
Looking at the frightened little girl standing between them, Marco realized the greatest lie in the family had never been about money or status.
It had been about a child who should have been loved openly instead of hidden behind a locked door.

For the first time in her life, the little girl walked out of the darkness—not as a secret, but as someone's daughter.
