CHAPTER 1 The Man in the White Shirt
Alexander Carter left a four-hour board meeting in downtown Miami with only one goal in mind—a cup of coffee and a few quiet minutes. After years of building TechNova into one of the fastest-growing technology companies in America, media attention had become unavoidable. Reporters followed every business move he made, so whenever possible, he slipped out through side exits dressed as simply as possible.
That afternoon he wore nothing more than a plain white button-down shirt, dark slacks, and ordinary shoes. There was no designer logo, expensive watch, bodyguard, or chauffeur. To everyone who saw him, he looked like an average office worker.
As Alex crossed the parking plaza toward his black Porsche, he noticed a crowd gathered around a young livestream influencer named Chloe. She was entertaining thousands of online viewers by approaching strangers and making bold assumptions about their lives.
Unfortunately, Alex became her next target.
She stepped directly into his path with a bright smile and her camera pointed at his face.
"Do you work here?"
When Alex calmly answered no, she guessed construction worker, maintenance staff, and even parking attendant, each suggestion earning louder laughter from the crowd. Alex refused to argue, asking only why his job mattered so much.
Then Chloe noticed the Porsche parked nearby.
She laughed confidently.
"A guy dressed like you doesn't drive a car like that."

What neither Chloe nor her audience realized was that the Porsche waiting only a few steps away had belonged to Alex all along.
