CHAPTER 2 The Bet That Went Viral
The livestream continued attracting more viewers by the minute. Thousands of comments poured onto Chloe's screen, encouraging her to keep embarrassing the quiet stranger standing before her.
Certain she was right, Chloe challenged Alex to prove the Porsche belonged to him.
"If it's really yours," she declared, "unlock it."
When Alex remained calm, she raised the stakes even further.
"If that Porsche is actually yours, I'll kneel right here in front of everyone."
The crowd gasped before cheering loudly. Phones rose higher into the air as people waited for the perfect viral ending. Chloe looked completely certain of herself. She believed Alex was bluffing because she had already judged him by his clothes.
Alex asked one final question.
"Do you always judge people this quickly?"
Instead of thinking about her answer, Chloe laughed and accused him of changing the subject. She demanded once more that he unlock the car if he was telling the truth.
For several long seconds Alex said nothing. Then he slowly reached into his pocket.
The crowd fell silent.
Everyone watched the small movement as he calmly pulled out a black Porsche key fob. Chloe forced a smile and dismissed it as a fake prop, but for the first time all afternoon, uncertainty crept into her expression.
Alex looked at her one last time.
"You still have time to take back what you said."
