Chapter 2: The Kick That Shattered Everything

"What the hell are you doing?!" I roared as I stormed toward her.

My fiancée jumped.

The color drained from her perfectly made-up face.

"Logan... please, listen to me," she stammered. "He's just a little thief. He was trying to ruin our wedding!"

But the little boy had already seen me.

He burst into louder sobs and pointed a scratched, dirt-covered finger directly at her.

"She did it! She locked me in here!"

The housekeeper collapsed to her knees, covering her face as tears poured down.

"Please, sir..." she cried. "Please... stay back..."

Something inside me snapped.

Every ounce of calm I had carried as the heir to one of the country's most respected families disappeared.

I didn't say another word.

I stepped back.

Shifted all my weight onto my right leg.

Then drove a devastating kick straight into the elegant door.

CRASH!

The glass exploded into thousands of pieces, raining across the marble floor like shattered diamonds.

The housekeeper rushed inside and wrapped the trembling little boy in her arms.

Still crying, he buried his face against her shoulder.
