CHAPTER 3: KINDNESS COMES FULL CIRCLE

For a brief moment, Ethan couldn't move.
His partner called his name.
Reality rushed back.
No pulse.
Weak breathing.
Critical condition.
Training took over.
Together they fought to keep her alive as the ambulance sped toward the hospital.
Holding her hand, Ethan whispered softly,
"Please don't leave."
A single tear slipped from the corner of the woman's closed eye.
Hours later, doctors finally stabilized her condition.
When she opened her eyes, the first face she saw was Ethan's.
She didn't recognize the young paramedic.
Until he smiled.
"You once bought two little boys dinner on a freezing night," he said quietly.
"You told one of them to help someone else someday."
The waitress's eyes filled with tears.
Ethan gently squeezed her hand.
"I kept my promise."
