Chapter 103 - Steel and Silk

The domestic staff did not pause to register shock; their programming allowed no room for hesitation. As one unit, Martha and the three others lunged toward the vehicle, their movements fluid and terrifyingly rapid.
Naomi moved with absolute economy of motion. She had trained under the same handlers, enduring the same neural conditioning, but her mind had achieved something their synthetic overrides could never replicate: autonomy.
When the chauffeur swung a tire iron with bone-crushing velocity, Naomi ducked inside the arc of the swing, striking the nerve bundle at his shoulder with two stiff fingers. The iron clattered to the floor. Before the man could pivot, Naomi drove her palm into the base of his chin, whipping around in the same kinetic motion to catch Martha’s incoming wrist.
"Martha, disconnect!" Naomi commanded, pressing her thumb firmly into the cervical implant behind the elderly woman's ear.
The housekeeper spasmed, blue sparks flashing faintly beneath the skin of her neck, before her eyes rolled back and she collapsed unconscious onto the carpet. Naomi caught her gently, lowering her to the floor without allowing her head to hit the marble.
"You're... you're not killing them?" Vanessa stammered, climbing up from behind the sideboard, her gown torn, her hair plastered to her face with sweat.
"They're victims of the broadcast carrier, Vanessa. Just like I was," Naomi replied, her voice cool and level even as she parried a synchronized knife thrust from the second maid, disarming her with a brutal twist of the wrist that popped the joint cleanly from its socket. "They are being driven by a remote transmitter operating out of Philadelphia's central power exchange."
The front courtyard suddenly exploded into daylight as twin searchlights swept across the mansion's facade. A booming mechanical hum reverberated through the foundations, rattling the chandeliers overhead until crystal drops fell like heavy hail.
"We have thirty seconds before the primary vanguard arrives," Naomi said, reloading her tactical submachine gun with a sharp click. "Where is your father?"
Vanessa’s face paled. "He... he went to the vault beneath the foundations. He said if the Red Dawn Protocol ever initiated, he had to destroy the Family Ledger."
May you like
Naomi’s jaw tightened. "He lied to you, Vanessa. He isn’t going to destroy the Ledger. He’s going to upload it."
