Chapter 9 - The Truth Comes to Light

"You did your research, Judge Sterling," Naomi said, her voice steady, cool, and carrying a quiet authority that made even the federal marshals instinctively tighten their grips on their belts. "I am indeed Naomi Reyes. Every file in that folder is accurate."

"Then you admit it!" Judge Sterling sneered, pointing a trembling finger at her. "You are a violent fugitive hiding behind a maid's apron! You assaulted my daughter last night, and under federal statutes regarding undisclosed combat specialists working in private estates, you are under arrest!"

"Wait a minute!" Ethan shouted, stepping directly between Naomi and the marshals. "She didn't initiate the violence! Vanessa attacked her with a glass plate! My security cameras recorded the entire thing!"

"Your cameras won't matter once the federal board reviews her past classified operational record," Judge Sterling hissed with a cruel smile. "She’s a liability, Ethan. A ticking time bomb."

Naomi gently placed her hand on Ethan’s forearm, signaling him to step aside. She looked directly into Judge Sterling’s eyes, her gaze so chillingly devoid of emotion that the judge took an involuntary step backward.

"Judge Sterling," Naomi whispered softly, stepping forward into the center of the foyer. "You brought federal marshals here because your daughter's fragile ego was shattered in public. You thought exposing my past would break me, make me cower, make me run away like I did eight years ago."

She tilted her head slightly. "You made a grave mistake. When I chose to become a maid, I chose peace. I locked the violence away because I grew tired of blood. But if you think a manila folder and a few federal threats are enough to intimidate me... you have severely miscalculated."
